FEATURED PARTNER

MAINE MINERAL & GEM MUSEUM

Having been direct beneficiaries of scholarships ourselves, we know the importance of creating dynamic learning opportunities for all students, regardless of personal circumstance. Among our many nonprofit partners, we are especially proud of the Maine Mineral & Gem Museum in Bethel, Maine, which is supported in part by the Stifler Family Foundation.

From its exceptional mineral and gem collections to one of the world’s foremost meteorite collections, the MMGM is regarded as a world class museum and top-notch research and educational facility.

Preservation and Discovery

Longtime admirers of this quiet corner of western Maine, the Stiflers began purchasing small tracts of land in 1978, eventually acquiring the historic Bumpus Quarry in 2004. Our desire to preserve this feldspar and beryl mine soon inspired the acquisition of many collections of minerals and gemstones that preserve and showcase Maine’s rich geological heritage.

The museum’s collection has continued to grow and now represents the world’s largest grouping of Maine’s minerals, gemstones and historic materials. The meteorite collection is world class, and has been featured in major news outlets around the globe, including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and The Boston Globe.
